Science Thrives on Diversity

At Leibniz IPHT, researchers from more than 40 countries work together on photonic innovations.

“Diversity gives us the opportunity to think differently. At Leibniz IPHT, diversity is a driver of scientific progress.” With these words, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Popp, scientific director of Leibniz IPHT, highlights the importance of interdisciplinary and international collaboration. More than 450 researchers from over 40 countries develop photonic solutions for medicine, the environment, energy, and safety. At Leibniz IPHT, diversity is a driving force behind scientific progress.

As part of the “Weltoffenes Thüringen” initiative, the Diversity Charter, and #Zusammenland, Leibniz IPHT is committed to equal opportunities, openness, and cutting-edge research. In the campaign “Discovering Through Diversity”, the institute highlights both its interdisciplinary approach and multicultural perspectives: A video series features researchers from various disciplines and backgrounds sharing their work.
