The Thuringian winners of the “Young Researchers” competition in the working world category are a group from IPHT: Jakob Dieckmann, Bastian König, and Lukas Fritzsche from Jena developed an inexpensive handheld device for finding DNA sequences from a hardware store case and material totaling 110 EUR. Such devices generally cost more than 5000 EUR.
