Research scientists at the Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) at Jena have found under real-life conditions for the first time that optical methods can be used to identify pathogens for urinary tract infections more quickly than the standard methods. Together with colleagues from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena and the departments of medical microbiology and clinical chemistry at the University Clinic of Jena, these research scientists published their findings in the journal Analytical Chemistry. [The PDF below contains the full German press release]
