More than 50 young scientists from national and international research institutes came together at the 7th DoKDoK Conference to exchange ideas with scientists and industry representatives on the topic of optics and photonics. The symposium was organized by doctoral students of the Jena Abbe School of Photonics and took place from September 17 to 21 in Friedrichroda. Among the speakers was Professor Rainer Heintzmann from the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology Jena (Leibniz IPHT).

The participants discussed their research results on topics such as spectroscopy and imaging, laser technology or micro- and nanooptics. In addition, the students caught up on career opportunities in research and industry. Robert Meyer, one of the organizers of DoKDoK, especially appreciated the renowned researchers’ personal reports. “They really gave us valuable advice concerning our own careers”, the young scientist says. As the conference aims at establishing networks in the industrial sector, the organizers were especially glad that numerous optical industries companies from the Jena area took part in the conference, too.branche
