Scientists at the Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) are researching a method to spectroscopically characterize the biochemical composition of arteriosclerotic plaque in the blood vessels. With the latest spectroscopic methods and the most modern fiber technology, patients should be able to be gently tested for biochemical changes in the vascular walls in the future.
