Detailed measurements of a chemical reaction accelerated by laser light were able to be performed for the first time at the molecular level. With the help of a special microscope, research scientists at the Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) and the University of Jena, in collaboration with colleagues from Utrecht University, studied photocatalysis at a resolution that has never been achieved before. The results, which were published in the renowned “Nature Nanotechnology” journal on August 19, 2012, may contribute to the development of profitable solar fuels. [The PDF below contains the full German press release]
