The main technical objective of the project – FLOW – is the research and development of novel microstructured optical fibers for advanced optofluidic fiber sensing applications. The envisaged sensor applications will be based on fiber Bragg grating interference and other interferometric measurement principles (Fabry-Perot, Michelson, Mach-Zehnder interferometers), with the fiber optic structures to be developed acting as miniaturized sensor sensing heads in the sensor setup.
