The goal of the MSCA Innovative Training Network PHAST (Photonics for Healthcare: multiscAle cancer diagnosiS and Therapy) is to develop an innovative training program in biophotonics that will provide society with a team of highly qualified, multidisciplinary scientists through a personalized PhD career pathway covering the areas of cutting-edge cancer diagnostics and therapy. Early diagnosis and targeted treatment of cancer, of great importance to the European community, require the development of innovative diagnostic tools and non-invasive methods to monitor treatment response. The core scientific goal of PHAST-ITN is to develop advanced photonic multiscale technologies for cancer diagnosis in vitro and in vivo and therapy monitoring for personalized medicine. Other project partners besides Leibniz-IPHT are the University of Parma, ICFO, the Medical University of Vienna, TYNDALL, HORIBA Jobin Yvon, Philips and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG.

The project is funded by EU grant Horizon 2020 under the number GA 860185 and co-funded by the project executing agency EU-H2020.
