The aim of this project is to develop a novel fiber laser-based infrared spectrometer for continuous operation in clinical environments. For the first time, the instrument will combine the record-setting performance parameters achieved by the applicant research group in the field of field-resolved spectroscopy in a robust and compact platform. It will also enable high-throughput acquisition of broadband, quantitative infrared fingerprints from both exhaled breath collected directly from a ventilator in an intensive care unit and individual cells in flow.

The project is funded by the Free State of Thuringia under grant number 2025 FGI 0025 and co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
