Holographic endoscopes use a single fiber to capture images of deep tissues of living organisms and are among the minimally invasive instruments used in diagnostics. They are based on light transport through multimode fibers, where bending of the fiber leads to significant changes in light transport and limited image quality. The aim of the project is to develop a special fiber that is less sensitive to deformation. In addition to medical technology, potential applications include telecommunications and 3D manufacturing processes.

The project is funded by the Free State of Thuringia under the number 2023 VFE 0049 and co-financed by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
