Vibrational spectroscopy-based imaging is a comparatively new imaging approach. Currently, it is applied more frequently in academic laboratories for exploration than industry for routine analysis. This book demonstrates that these approaches are steadily improving, gaining recognition in various fields and finding use for solving a variety of real-world problems. Theory, instrumental hardware and data analysis are presented first making up one third of the book. The remaining two thirds are dedicated to key applications of which the biomedical and pharmaceutical ones probably dominate followed by food and polymers. In-depth overviews of Raman, infrared and near infrared spectroscopy are described for each application. The book provides a comprehensive survey of these rapidly growing fields. International groups of scientists who are leading experts in their particular field wrote altogether 16 chapters with page numbers ranging from 12 to 32 and summarized relevant studies that can be considered as references.
