The Leistungszentrum Photonik (LZP) is the cross-institutional innovation and transfer platform of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF and the Institute for Applied Physics IAP of the Friedrich Schiller University (FSU) Jena as well as the associated partners, the Helmholtz Institute Jena HIJ and the two Leibniz Institutes for Photonic Technologies IPHT and for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology HKI.
With the present project "Performance Center Photonics Imaging Labs", the Performance Center Photonics develops application-oriented imaging technologies using novel concepts, especially for applications in biophotonics. The transfer of innovative concepts is promoted by targeted measures of education and training as well as the close integration of partners from science and industry and the industry is sustainably strengthened by high-performance solutions with light.
The focal points of the activities within the scope of the present project are:
- Continuation and establishment of the graduate school for applied photonics
- Initiation of inter-institutional "Joint Photonics Imaging Labs" between the partners of the performance center
- Implementation of innovation and transfer measures, coordination, as well as establishment of the office.

The project is funded by the Free State of Thuringia under the number 2021 FGI 0049.
