The QEID-POC project is developing lateral flow tests (strip tests) that quantitatively assess the immune response to infections and inflammation. The tests can be used individually or in a multiplex format and deliver results within 15 minutes without the need for laboratory equipment. A key goal is their use as home tests, allowing patients to evaluate the results via a smartphone.

The tests are intended to help distinguish between viral and bacterial infections, thereby reducing unnecessary antibiotic use. Planned is the specific measurement of the markers CRP, PCT, and neopterin, which serve as indicators of inflammatory processes and infections.

QEID-POC combines the development of reliable test strips with digital analysis. The software supports quantitative interpretation of the results and enables easy handling by end users. The planned tests are designed to be cost-effective and suitable for integration into a wide range of settings, from clinical environments to home use.
