Applications of nanoparticles (NPs) as photothermal (PT) agents in laser nanotechnology are fast growing areas of research. Many potential benefits include possibility for imaging and treatment of materials containing of NPs, applications of NPs in catalysis, medicine, chemistry, etc. Efficacies of applications of metallic NPs for laser and optical nanotechnology depend on optical and thermo-physical properties of NPs and characteristics of radiation. There is a lack of focused analysis of requirements to NPs properties for optimization of PT appli-cations, especially with pulsed lasers. Here we present the results of comparative analysis of NP properties (e.g., optical, thermal, and others) allowing to select their parameters for photonic applications. Thermo-optical properties of several metallic (aurum, silver, platinum, cobalt, zink, nickel, titanium, cuprum, aluminum, potas-sium, sodium) NPs are theoretically investigated and analysis of them is carried out. Some of these NPs can be used in laser and optical nanotechnology and nanomedicine with maximal efficiency.
