Thermal stress anomaly in rare-earth-doped fiber materials codoped with aluminum and phosphorus

We report on measurements of thermal stress in optical fiber preforms. We found, that in contrast to simple models the change in the coefficient of thermal expansion of silica is not additively for codoping with aluminum and phosphorus.
