Research results of different technological approaches and key components that are necessary to develop a monolithic visible fiber laser based on an active Pr3+-doped fluoride glass fiber (ZBLAN) in combination with silica fiber components are presented. By realizing low-loss and mechanically stable fluoride-silica splices and Fiber-Bragg-Gratings in the VIS, we demonstrate a laser slope efficiency of 31% with an output power of 1.3W @ 635nm.
