Round Trip to the Tissue Please: How Jena Research Scientists Will Use Guided Light to Reduce the Time It Takes to Reach a Diagnosis
Many patients are familiar with the excruciating wait for a diagnosis after a biopsy. A research campaign funded by the Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF) with 2 million euros has been started in Jena to save patients from this long wait in the future. As part of the “Fiber Health Probe,” research scientists at the Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT), the University of Jena, and University Hospital in Jena will work together to develop new concepts of medical research and diagnosis using optical fibers.
