In the project, atomic vapour cells for optical magnetometers and other quantum systems are to be produced from coated glass plates using ultrashort pulse laser microwelding. The aim is to produce monolithic, hermetically sealed cells filled with alkali metal at a defined internal pressure. The welding process for this application must be developed and mechanically qualified, wall coatings for functionalising the cells must be compared and finally the function of the quantum system must be demonstrated. With the help of the manufacturing principle to be developed for atomic vapour cells, new types of quantum sensor measuring devices will be possible.
