Easy to Swallow for the Patient: Fiber Sensors from IPHT Jena (Kopie 1)
Not only are modern fibers important components in telecommunication, they also find increased use in medical technologies, especially minimal invasive applications. At the Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) in Jena, Germany, researchers developed methods for the production of particularly thin optical fibers with efficient light guiding properties. The idea is to use such fibers inside an endoscope in the screening of esophageal cancer.
Funding of the Collaborative Research Center NOA on Light-Matter Interactions extended
The Collaborative Research Center (CRC/SFB) "NOA – Nonlinear Optics down to Atomic Scales" at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, in which the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (Leibniz IPHT) researches and works together with other partners on light-matter interactions, will be funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) with approximately eleven million Euros for another four years from July 1, 2023.
