Within the framework of pandemic management, the federal and state governments have decided on far-reaching measures to control the dynamics of the Corona pandemic outbreak. The main aim is to gain time to build up concepts, competencies and
capacities that will make it possible to better deal with the number of sick people and the speed at which intensive care is required.
These measures are not sustainable ("holding one's breath"); at the same time, rational criteria are lacking as to when and how which measures can be relaxed without overburdening the health care system.
In this research project, three pillars of pandemic response are systematically linked:
- Disease burden
- Capacity in the health care system and
- Consequences for society
The goal of the research group is to develop a scientific rationale to systematically balance the various factors influencing the pandemic, pandemic management, and pandemic consequence management.

The project is funded by the TSKanzlei.
