Revisiting Beer’s Law, Wave Optics, and Dispersion Theory for Infrared Spectroscopy. An Interview with Thomas Mayerhöfer

Critical analysis of the theoretical aspects of infrared (IR) spectroscopy has been the subject of research conducted by Thomas Mayerhöfer, a scientist at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technologies, in Jena, Germany. Mayerhöfer conducted a rigorous analysis using wave optical and dispersion theory to examine Beer’s law, crystal orientation, absorbance band fitting, Kramers-Kronig analysis, and more. We recently interviewed Mayerhöfer about this work.
