The Institute of Photonic Technology Jena e.V. is presenting its research progress in the fields of bioanalytics and material characterization at the leading photonics trade show LASER World of Photonics this year. The work performed by research scientists at IPHT allows the quick and highly specific analysis of optical components and microorganisms.

The Biophotonics Research Focus will be presenting highlights from 10 years of research funding by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from May 13-16 at the LASER World of Photonics in Munich this year. Prof. Dr. Stefan W. Hell, winner of the Meyenburg Prize, and Prof. Dr. Vasilis Ntziachristos, winner of the Leibniz Prize, will be introducing their groundbreaking developments in the field of microscopic imaging for biomedical research and diagnostics. [The PDF below contains the full German press release]

Many patients are familiar with the excruciating wait for a diagnosis after a biopsy. A research campaign funded by the Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF) with 2 million euros has been started in Jena to save patients from this long wait in the future.
