Sensors from Jena on Board the Comet Lander Philae

On November 12, 2014, the Philae lander will separate from the European space probe Rosetta, and land on the comet referred to as 67P/Tschurjumow-Gerassimenko (Tschuri for short); thermoelectric sensors from IPHT will be on board. Biodegradable Silicon Nanoparticles

Research has been performed for some time now on the implementation of semiconductor nanoparticles for biomedical applications. Nanoparticles are a millionth of a millimeter in size, which is small enough to penetrate a cell. When excited by ultrasound radiation, the particles found in the cell vibrate.
