Currently, the concentration of alkaloids is determined using HPLC – a time-consuming and expensive procedure. The aim of the project is to develop a rapid test for the quantitative detection of alkaloids. The rapid test is to be used in the context of quality control in the production of cereal products or raw materials for pharmaceuticals. The developed technologies are designed in such a way that an adaptation to other alkaloids is possible.
The technical implementation consists of a multi-channel photometer, which measures the color change of a detection reagent in a time-resolved manner. A special sample preparation includes a tool for digestion of the alkaloids from the raw material and a dosing and temperature control station for the measuring cuvette filled with detection reagent.

Top: Idendity maps based on kinetically resolved photometric analysis of alkaloids. Scale Bar: Absorbance, Each triangle is representing a single color channel,
the excitation color is shown in the outer ring, Incubation time increases with increasing distance from the center.
Below: Time resolverd absorbance for the six color channels
