LPI-BT1

Runtime: 01.03.2021 - 28.02.2026
Focused on the „unmet medical need“, the research and implementation of innovative imaging techniques for the qualitative and quantitative, multidimensional and multimodal characterization of infection-relevant target structures (DNA, viruses, bacteria, fungi, yeasts, cells, tissues, ex vivo and in vivo organs, organisms, biofilms) as well as their interaction with external triggers (therapeutics, nanoparticles, viruses and phages or microorganisms) are the focus of Basic Technology 1 (BT 1) of the Leibniz Center for Photonics in Infection Research (LPI). With the work of the subproject, especially for the „honeycombs“ multimodal imaging, 3D imaging, photonic high-throughput methods,
Intelligent Sample Preparation and System Technology of the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Service Pipeline, content is being developed and made available at a high level of maturity (up to TRL 6).
The sub-project of the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies (Leibniz-IPHT) in the network BT 1 of the LPI (BT 1- Leibniz-IPHT) comprises the methodological and technological basics for the realization and provision of multimodal imaging methods with the aim of recording morphological and chemical (morphochemical) changes of biological structures.
Different application scenarios on exemplarily defined biological in vitro and in vivo models as well as clinical samples of the partners Leibniz-HKI and UKJ are used for the testing of the
imaging platforms over a wide range of wavelengths (from IR to UV) and sizes (i.e. from large objects such as organs to nano-objects).
The project is funded by the VDI Technology Center under the number 13N15464.
