Development and Fabrication of Graphene Sensor Arrays
Thüringen Network MikroGraph
Runtime: 01.09.2025 - 31.08.2028
An EU directive stipulates that, from 2040, at least six pollutants from a defined list of twelve specified micropollutants must be monitored in wastewater samples from wastewater treatment plants. As part of a collaborative project, we are developing a highly automated and cost-effective measurement system for continuous on-site monitoring of these pollutants, eliminating the need to transport wastewater samples to central laboratories. The system combines graphene field-effect transistors, separation column technology and mass spectrometry, and has the potential to surpass the current state of the art in environmental analysis while significantly strengthening the region through new methods, products and services.
The project is funded by the Free State of Thuringia under grant number 2024 VFE 0096 and co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
