Tomographical measurement of stress distribution in non-axisymmetric preforms

This paper gives an overview about the first results of the photoelastic computer tomography measurements of the axial residual stress profile in preforms at the IPHT. A polarimetric method for measuring the axial residual stress profile of preforms with arbitrary cross section is presented. The method is used for samples with non-axisymmetric structural elements in the core.
