Light is essential to cellular life. Understanding how light regulates the ways in which molecules store and conduct charge or transmit well-ordered forces and energy is a prerequisite for the elucidation of membrane cybernetics. In this study, we report a miniaturized amperometric atomic force microscopy (AFM) probe sensor that can distinguish between six- lobar and four-lobar pores in the plasma membranes of living cells and can further discern their electroactive domains. We found that ultraviolet light stimulates certain electroactive molecules of membrane pores.
