Various methods and techniques such as Localization Microscopy (LM) like (PALM, STORM, dSTORM, GSDIM), STED, have been developed to improve the resolution of microscope captured images of fluorescent samples. Unlike LM and STED, high resolution structured illumination microscopy (SIM) does not require special dye molecules. Many microscope manufacturers offer high quality specialized SIM microscopes (GE, Nikon, Zeiss), all of which provide excellent results, but are very expensive, large, and not usable on a wide variety of microscope types. The goal in this project is to design, build and test a compact, inexpensive - attachable to various microscopes - DMD-based SIM module with evaluation and control software integrated in open-source software. We consider the camera as part of the system, so that both can be coordinated effectively.

The project is funded by VDIB-ZIM-NKF under the number ZF4006820DF9.
