Engineering an achromatic Bessel beam using a phase-only spatial light modulator and an iterative Fourier transformation algorithm

Highlights •A novel way of generating a Bessel Beam Profile is proposed.•Beam generation is based on an iterative Fourier transform Algorithm (IFTA) and a spatial light modulator(SLM).•The SLM is placed in a plane conjugate to the nominal position of best focus.•Our scheme is optimized for achromatic performance by permitting a range of wavelengths to pass through the Fourier aperture.•No further chromatic compensation optics is required.•Possible applications include Optical Coherence Tomography or Multiphoton imaging.
