1991-   Research assistant at the Institute of Physical High Technologies (IPHT), later Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies e.V.

Research areas: Optical and fiber optic bio- and chemosensors; Design and development of sensors for use in research, water, environmental and gas analysis as well as in marine research;  Design and application studies of microstructured fibers in sensor technology

Personal interests: Climate and atmospheric physics, literature and art of the Fin de Siècle, coldwater scuba diving
