My research interest revolve around cadmium chalcogenide based nanoparticles, in particular quantum dots and nanorods, and their interaction with redoxactive molecules and polymers. I employ time-resolved and steady state absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopies to investigate charge separation, localization and recombination processes in these structures in timescales from hundreds of femtoseconds to dozens of nanoseconds. Ultimately, my goal is to employ these structures for artificial photosynthesis and the hydrogen evolution reaction.

Additionally, I study preparation aspects of nanorods such as their synthesis and their deposition on conductive surfaces. Our current goal is the aligned deposition of rods by different methods such as electrophoresis or self-assembly by modifying the nanocrystal surface.
